A Look at Volkswagen IQ.Drive and the 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan IQ.Drive

Volkswagen is bundling its driver assistance and safety technologies under a new umbrella starting in December called IQ.Drive. The German automaker will offer a range of models equipped with IQ.Drive starting in 2020 including the new 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan IQ.Drive.

IQ.Drive: All-in-one Volkswagen Advanced Safety

In simple terms, IQ.Drive encompasses the entire VW active safety systems used for parking, driving, and collision avoidance. Systems featured in Volkswagen IQ.Drive includes rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, front collision mitigation with emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and steering assist.

Eventually, technologies found in IQ.Drive will ramp up to include Level 5 autonomous driving systems like leaving the vehicle in front of a garage door and having it park itself after the driver exits. Volkswagen plans to push the technology even further and make the car find its own parking spot autonomously and drive on the Autobahn without driver intervention.

As for the Volkswagen Tiguan IQ.Drive, it starts at $37,670 and includes Adaptive Cruise Control with Autonomous Braking, Pedestrian Monitoring, Light Assist, Blind Spot Monitoring, Rear Traffic Alert, and Lane Keeping Assist. It also comes with a power tailgate, an 8-way power driver seat, an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation, panoramic sunroof, heated front seats, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and KESSY keyless access.

Like all other 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan models, it will be powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder that delivers 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. That’s more standard torque than any other compact SUV. An 8-speed automatic is standard and 4Motion is included on every trim except the base Trendline model which starts at $29,770.

Every 2020 Tiguan gets heated front seats, a 6.5-inch centre touchscreen, 17-inch wheels and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay.
